Father Fidelis Albrecht, OFM
De Colores!
The Father Fidelis Memorial Cursillo Fund will primarily be used to provide scholarship assistance to those in need to attend Cursillo Weekends and other Cursillo formation opportunities. Contributions to the fund are tax deductible.
The Cursillo is an officially recognized movement of the Catholic Church, and
its mission is the same as the Church's - evangelization - following the model
of:
Make A Friend, Be A Friend, Bring A Friend To Christ
The Cursillo originated in Spain in the 1940's and came to the United States in 1957. While in San Angelo, Texas, Fr. Fidelis was responsible for translating the Cursillo into English, which previously had only been given in Spanish. In 1962, Bishop Charles Helmsing invited Fr. Fidelis to bring the Cursillo Movement to the Kansas City-St. Joseph Missouri Diocese. From here, Fr. Fidelis and lay teams helped establish many other Cursillo centers throughout the United States. Today the Cursillo Movement has spread worldwide in several different languages. Fr. Fidelis passed away September 21, 1973.
