Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy Fund

The Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy, a partnership between the City, the Kansas City Royals, and Major League Baseball, will positively impact the lives of Kansas City’s urban youth. By using baseball as a vehicle for character development and as a platform to provide athletic opportunity, this Academy will grow leaders in our community and strengthen the game of baseball in the urban core for generations to come. This Academy will connect young people in our community with Royals coaches, staff, and former players to work on developing their skills and provide them with exposure to potential career paths in baseball, as well as broadcasting, statistics, sports medicine, officiating, etc. Partnerships with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club will ensure that our area’s youth are being served.

This project will be located at Parade Park, in our City’s historic 18th & Vine District, and will undoubtedly drive economic development to this area, attract visitors from across the region, and improve community amenities for current residents. With assets such as the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the American Jazz Museum, this is a unique opportunity to address multiple issues with a single catalytic solution.
