Lighton International
Artists Exchange Program
The Lighton International Artists' Exchange Program works to make the world a smaller place by giving artists of different cultures the opportunity to work together in the hope that lasting friendship and understanding will develop.
The program provides support for mid-career visual artists to travel to international residencies and artist communities and for foreign visual artists to travel and work in the United States. Artists from Kansas City and the Central Plains/Midwest area receive priority for funding. Students are not eligible for this award.
This program has a strong track record of changing lives and perceptions across the globe. Since 2000, over $650,000 has been granted to 110 artists who have traveled to 40 countries on 5 continents. The award process is competetive, and awards are given once annually. On average, 6 - 8 artists per year will receive LIAEP awards. Program criteria, guidelines and application can be found at: http://www.liaep.org
